Crop progress report 10/10: Cooler temps set in throughout Washington

There were 6.5 days suitable for field work, down from 6.7 the previous week. Statewide temperatures for the week ending Oct. 10 were mostly below normal.

San Juan County reported cooler temperatures with some rainfall throughout the area. Fall crops were planted, and harvest was near completion. Tree fruit harvest was in the final weeks, and pastures were starting to return. In Yakima County, there was light frost on some crops throughout the area. The Schneider Springs Fire was at 90 percent containment. Apple harvest was near completion. Hop harvest was complete, and field corn producers were in harvest. In Whitman County, little rainfall was received throughout the area. Seeding had picked up, and even some reseeding was done.
