The Washington Grain Commission (WGC) was established in 1958. Its mission is to enhance the long-term profitability and competitiveness of Washington small grains and small grain producers by responsible allocation of assessment funds in research, marketing, and education.
The WGC is seeking applicants for Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO serves as the operations and business manager, information liaison and representative and is ultimately responsible for the successful implementation of the policies and actions of the WGC.
The CEO will assist in the formulation of the philosophies, missions, strategies, objectives and goals and is responsible for providing the leadership needed to achieve such tasks. In cooperation with the Chair, the CEO will facilitate optimum interaction between management and the board to fulfill their governance functions.
The ideal candidate should have demonstrated managerial experience, a track record of effective communication skills, including a variety of diverse audiences, along with experience in board management, market development, trade and policy.
The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum five years’ experience in an agriculture related industry. A master’s degree is preferred. The position requires both domestic and international travel and the ability to provide and maintain required travel documentation. Foreign language capability is beneficial.
The position is based in Spokane, Wash., at the WGC office and is not considered a telework position. This is an overtime-exempt employee position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
