WSU Spring Variety Testing plot information

From small grains.wsu.edu

With all the spring sites in the ground and well on their way to becoming beautiful plots, we wanted to share that the spring variety trial plot maps and GPS coordinates are now available on the small grains website: https://smallgrains.wsu.edu/26springmaps/

There are a few changes to the spring variety trials this year. The total number of locations planted has been cut from 18 down to 11. We have cut the trials down to two replications, instead of three, and most of the spring sites are planted in conjunction with the WSU Spring Wheat Breeding Program. This means some of the locations will be in different places than usual, so please check the coordinates before you go to a location.

For questions about the spring trials, please reach out to Mike Pumphrey or Vadim Jitkov. For printer friendly versions of the spring plot maps, please reach out to Vadim Jitkov. For questions about the 2026 winter trials, please reach out to Tricia DeMacon or Kim Campbell. For other general questions, feel free to reach out to smallgrains@wsu.edu.

You can visit the WSU Variety Testing sites during the summer field tours, May 29-July 3. Come learn from members of the WSU Extension Dryland Cropping Systems Team and interact with all kinds of folks from the wheat and agricultural industry. Before each tour, be sure to check the CSS Events Calendar and the Small Grains Event Calendar for any changes, or feel free to reach out to the contacts listed for each location for specific tour information.

Also, a reminder to join the Variety Trial PrelimData listserv to receive 2026 yield data via email within a week of harvest.
